Image sizes and safe zones: a quick reference

Sizes change occasionally, so treat these as sensible defaults. They’re the sizes itistitle exports. For a table with every format, see the size guide.

At a glance

All sizes are in pixels (width × height).

  • YouTube thumbnail: 1280 × 720 (16:9)
  • Reel / Story / Shorts cover: 1080 × 1920 (9:16)
  • Instagram square post: 1080 × 1080 (1:1)
  • Instagram portrait post: 1080 × 1350 (4:5)
  • LinkedIn / Facebook link post: 1200 × 630 (1.91:1)
  • X (Twitter) post image: 1600 × 900 (16:9)
  • Pinterest pin: 1000 × 1500 (2:3)

Safe margins

Keep important text at least 5% from each edge on landscape and square images and 8% on portrait ones. For vertical video covers, keep text out of the top 12% and bottom 20%.

File type and quality

itistitle exports PNG, which stays sharp on text. Most platforms re-compress uploads, so start with the full export size rather than a smaller one.
